What is the Design Thinking process?
Design Thinking is a design methodology that approaches problem-solving in a human-centered way. By applying Design Thinking methods, you will understand the human needs involved, create many ideas in brainstorming sessions and adopt a practical approach to creating prototypes and testing in order to solve complex problems.
There are five steps that every designer must follow: Empathy, Definition, Ideation, Prototyping and Testing. The first step in the Design Thinking Process is to understand the human need involved and be empathetic to the problems you are trying to solve. At this stage, you get to know the users, their needs and their problems.
In the second step, you must define the problem in human-centered ways. This will help you gather great ideas to establish functions and elements that will allow you to solve problems.
During the third stage, you must analyze the problems, find possible solutions and brainstorm the most creative ideas. Now that you understand your users and their needs and have analyzed human-centered problems, you are able to come up with many ideas that can solve problems.
After selecting a group of ideas to move forward, prototyping begins. At this stage, you should produce several cheap prototypes that should be shared and tested within the team.
In the last step, you will develop a final prototype and a solution to the problem. It should allow users to test your solution to be able to resolve any issues the user may have.
